    A) Old Style 02

The drawbacks to this size and style are obvious. This eleven ribbon group, worn ca 1905-13 and again 1914/15 by Oberst zur Disposition (charakterisiert Generalmajor aD in 1920) Otto Karl Niemeyer (1850-1925), stretchs from armpit to over the tunic buttons. Note the typical pin fastening on the back when what became, after 1915, known as the "Old Style" bar was worn SOLELY as a ribbon bar.

Neat cloth backings like this-- almost invariably "traditional red" date mostly after 1900. Earlier bars are raw and unfinished on back, with exposed stitching.
