Dieter3 Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 So, this appears to be a 7th class award with a rosette - but that's the pattern for 8th class awards, is it not? Were these originally a 3-ray rosette, then changed to 4 later on???
Paul L Murphy Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 My own theory on these is that the manufacturers of the rosettes made the usual eight types, forgetting that the Golden Kite only has seven classes, and some people bought the rosette for the lowest class, ending up with a non existent 8th class Golden Kite style rosette.
Tim B Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Dieter,Well....that's a new one on me. You are correct, the three ray style is that of an 8th class award.Perhaps someone made one up thinking an all silver medal was supposed to be an 8th class award and didn't know better. The quality looks very good and original.Where is Paul Murphy on this one? We'll have to wait and see what he thinks.Tim
Tim B Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Sorry Paul, Was drafting my comments and you beat me to it. Tim
Dieter3 Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 Hmm. An unusual and interesting "goof"! If I had a lots of extra spare cash ( ), I'd buy it just for the oddity of it!
