Come on guys and gals... someone MUST have something new to show off in this category? Either 57's or Bundeswehr. Don't be shy... jump in... show off your treasures! Or even if you've come up with some info that might be valuable to the rest of the community... come on by and start a thread or pop in and give a jump start to an old one.

Would really love to see some activity here. Only wish I had something new but I'm always on the lookout and soon as I come up with anything it'll be added to a thread or used to start a new one.

Let's get things humming! Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Hi Dan,

as a collector of Hilfskreuzer items i recently picked up this nice early Steinhauer & Luck 57er.

There is an even earlier example of this S&L produced award that has a rivetted globe and one that i am looking for.

Now this badge does have a seperately attached globe but it is not rivetted but "adhered" to the badge.

It is a nice early example by S&L from what i am told.

Regards,Martin.

Here is a planchet i picked up that i beleive to be for the early 1957 Steinhauer & Luck HK award.

From this obverse view we can the guide for where a hole would have been drilled and the globe would then be attached by a rivet.
All wartime and early postwar S&L HK's had a rivetted globe.

Interesting piece,i think.

Regards,Martin.

Hello hauptmann, Not much but this is in Rear Admiral (Kontra Admiral) Walther Koehler's group (1901-1960) service. This Cased 1st Class Federal German Republic Order of Merit is by Steinhauer & Luck. He received the award in 1959. Cheers Captain Albert

Thanks for the kind words Dan.....here is my early "Krim" shield, evidenced by its "antique" finish and the four prong attachments, I believe later versions had three prongs. These shields are not full size, that is to say they are about three quarters the size of a Third Reich example, nor were they available with either a backing plate or piece of appropriate uniform cloth either !
Prost ! Steve.
