    Transcaucasian Order Of Labor

    Recommended Posts

Just look at this rare thing. Got this one years ago by a lucky chance. I've seen the fake ones and that's definitely not the one. This particular order was not issued by MonDvor, but was assembled by a jeweler. The seal represents the measurement standards that go way back to Imperial Russia. The lucky numer is 39. Check out the pictures below.

Thanks Mogul... I've not seen one of these before. The rivets on the flag and torch are interesting in that they can be seen from the front. Also interesting is the construction of the badge as evidenced by the prongs on the backplate. I'm curious as to the first letter of the republic's abbreviation at the top right of the star "_SFSR". What is the first letter and do you have an approximate date on this piece?

Thank you for checking out this piece of art. Here is the story: this particular order was established in 1922, but the principal giving happened between 1923 and 1933. Only 140 were made according to various sources, but little is known about the reward itself, because most of the actual orders were exchanged to a more current Order of Labor in the the mid-30s, plus most of the cavaliers were repressed and the orders were retrieved by the government. There were a lot speculations about this particular piece, because people genuinely believe that no such thing can exist in a private collection. I think that this particular order was built in the late 20s. The missing letter is З(ЗСФСР), but it's not missing really, it's been hidden by a golden leaf.

Thanks for the follow-up. Very interesting order... similarities with the Order of the Red Banner are unmistakable (torch and star center; makes me wonder which inspired which due to the date given); wreath made of both oak- strength- and laurel- victory- leaves, derrick and anvil and the almost obligatory red banner with "Workers of All Nations Unite" emblazoned thereupon. Very nice piece. Congratulations on owning it!

Do you think this is original serial number engraving style? What about the enamel?

This particular piece was assembled by a jeweler on a custom order, do you really thing that there was a standard back in the days? I've done a lot of research before the purchase. As far as I'm concerned only 4 of these survived, I've seen the other one in museum, never had a chance to look at the number.

Are you a member of Russian speacking forums? Awards.ru, or forum~su. You can ask them.

Why should I? They have no expertise in pieces like that, they've never seen pieces like that and they don't own pieces like that.

    You get that right

I'm deadly serious here. If you want to trust these guys, then it's allright by me, but mind my word, they don't even know how a 2nd class Suvorov should look like.

You need to value the opinion of few individuals. There are few people on Russian speaking forums that know what they are talking about, but only few people. I've been collecting for 13 years. I know what I'm talking about.

I already have a lot of opinions, some good, some bad, but the best one I got came from a jeweler, who told me that this particular piece was assembled at least 50 years ago.
