I am one of your newest members and I've come with a deciphering request of a recently acquired Militarpass for the above named soldier. I have special interest with this soldier because I have a 1913 Erfurt Luger with the same unit marked as the last unit Cpl Kunst was assigned to, 2nd Ersatz Machine Gun Company Ninth Army Corps. What info supplied by some and my own guesses, this soldier was born 15 Oct 1894 in Wohlendorf in Lower Saxony, he enlisted on 6.10.14. He was trained and assigned to a MG-08 with a shooting class of 2. He served in Russia and France and was wounded in Belgium and was awarded the wound badge in black. He served in various MG units with a final assignment with the 2.E.M.G.K. IX A.K. He attended the MG Sharpshooter School Kommando West in 3rd training company. He received 65 Reich Marks as mustering out pay. This Militarpass is a replacement for the original. I have posted what pages have information. I was able to find this for the 28th of April 1915.............. Western Front Second Battle of Ypres: German offensive definitely stopped. Germans bomb Dunkirk, Pervyse and Nancy; French bomb Friedrichshafen. Germans storm French position at Les Mesnils. Eastern Front Very powerful Austro-German offensive under von Mackensen begins between the Dunajec and Biala Rivers (west Galicia). E Williams Posted September 23, 2013 Author Share Posted September 23, 2013 Page 526, Histories of Two-Hundred Hundred and Fifty-One Divisions of the German Army 1914-1918 ...it attacked north of Ostrolenka and marched to Ossowiec. It remained there until the end of April. Earlier (Feb) the 250th took part in the attack of Mazurian Lakes and took very heavy casualites. Hello Chris...yes, this man has a special interest because I recently acquired a 1913 Erfurt Luger with the unit markings "2 E.M.G.IX.35". which is a unit he was assigned to. I had seen the Luger some time ago and had see this militarpass also some time ago but considering my age, the two didn't click until a couple of weeks ago. The two will accompany each other on another Prussian display I have. On page eight of the pass, there is a personal info that someone wrote about Cpl Kunst and this is something I'd like to know if possible. It's a replacement pass and was probably filled out at wars end to send him home with something of his service other than word of mouth. Also, I took a some time earlier and went through all your MG photos on "A Soldier's Burden". Some real great photos to have. I have one that I just acquired and it should be here this week of a fine MGSS soldier studio photo I will post. I will send you a larger file through email, if you would like to add it to your file.
