erikscollectables
I have recently found these two eagles. Both are about 7 cm high and wide. I do not collect French so I am trying to find out what these are. The one on the left is silver and has a hallmark on the left bottom. The main questions are: Are these indeed from the Napoleonic period Are these meant for a shako or a giberne? Are they for specific units? (with googeling I found similair ones linked to the young guard?) Regards, Erik
Stuka f
I wouldn't expect the plain , casted one to be used on uniform parts. I know to little about them, to say what they are, but I can say that many where made in later periods for "reenactments " during different periodes; many processions of religious or other characters were held on a annual base all over Belgium and many Napoleonic uniforms appeared in them. I am a button collector and now of many different patern's of "imperial guard " buttons, made for that purpose. cheers |<ris
