    Nice picture!

Does he wear a hessian cocarde?

    But I can´t recognize a hessian buckle...

To me he wears a red-white-red cocarde and white shoulder board-pipings (I., II., IX, X.AK) , so he served with the Inf.Rgt. 75 Bremen. (17.Inf.Div.)

Because the regiment was in a quiete sector near Bailly/St. Mard since october 1914, he could have earned the EKI before at the Marne. Because he wears the 07/10 tunic, I assume, the picture was taken before 1915.

Because he is almost Gefreiter, he should have fought a few weeks after mobilization.

Possible battles at the Marne in september:

    6: Châttilon s/Morin

    7,8: Esternay-Courgivaux

    16-21: Tracy le Mont

Maybe he was wounded at was sent to a hospital near Mainz

    Hi,

my 07/10 is close to mint, the owner was killed in 1915 and he had sneaked it home presumably ;-)

I think we have to take into account reissuing, recycling etc. etc... I am sure they got less and less pretty rapidly, but not a "flick of the switch" change...

    Best

    Chris :-)

    Hi,

    first picture: (Gustav Hans) Günther P a u l u s (* 17. Okt. 1898 in Rawitsch/Posen)

Begann als Kadett und trat am 10. Aug. 1914 zum Königs-Inf.-Regt. Nr.145, mehrere Gefechte als

Fähnrich an der Westfront, erhielt am 1. Sept.

And the second picture I also found in the net - unfortunately I can't rember where.

    ;) Best regards,

    Jens
