j-sk
Hello Gentlemen, Could anyone of you let me know, from the following pictures, if this combat bar (Gefechtsspange TANNENBERG) is a repro or an original one? Note: the grid is divided into 1cm squares (thick orange lines) Thank you in advance for your answer. All the best, Jean-Sam. Naxos
Hi Jean-Sam; These are civilian commemorative bars created by the German veteran association after the war. They were made mostly in the 1920s and early 1930s by various manufacturers and differ slightly in appearance. Some have D.R.G.M. stamped on the back and some don't. Yours looks good. IrishGunner
I wonder on which veteran association medal it could be worn?
Naxos
I wonder on which veteran association medal it could be worn? Kriegsdenkmuenze des Kyffhauserbundes Here is a link to information about this medal and the clasps: http://antique-photos.com/en/awardsdatabase/weimarawards/223-kriegsgedenkmunze.html Edited August 21, 2014 by Naxos
IrishGunner
Thanks Hardy! I thought it would be the Kyffhäuserbund medal.

j-sk
In the mean-time I found this interesting site: http://ksmvb.gmxhome.de/pages/kyffh_spangenpag.html It states that the Kyffhaeuserbund bars are 35mm wide...! Although this TANNENBERG bar looks very much like a Kyffhaeuserbund bar, it is only 32,5mm wide... Could it therefore be a later production or just a mere copy? Naxos
Not sure JS. These bars were always very inexpensive and I never thought someone would fake them ... but, as I learned, everthing is being copied now. For myself, I only aquire the bars with the D.R.G.M. mark on the back.
lambert
.. but, there are many copies of these bars are quite common in ebay.de, on average 8-12 euros. Lambert
