Here is a bar that I have been offered. I have passed on it but I wanted to post it to make sure I have not missed something. The things that give me pause are the new ribbons, the use of smaller ribbons and the style of bar. I gues it could be a remount that was just kept very clean but I want to see what you think. I can still buy this bar. I have been out for a while so I am a little cold.

Exactly my issue. The parts are there and seem to be good. In hand it is well put together. It just looks so new and the use of the 1/2 sized ribbons. If this were an older trapezoid mount with some age I would love it. Have there ever been a number of bars made from real parts on these type of ribbon? I don't remember any.

    Have you black lighted it?

Someone could have cleaned the ribbons, although it is a tough call, if it is a good price then I'd consider it, but if this a lot, or is a lot financially for you at this time, then you made a good choice at walking away, it is always tough to determine what to do in this situation.

Just a comment - The 1870 bar combination is a bit unusual as the large units that were at Orleans were not at Weissenburg.  It could be a staff officer or someone in a position that called for him to move around between units but, it is a bit of a red flag.

Beau, this bar is too much for me not to be 100% on. Maybe I'm passing a good one but I'll be able to sleep!

I don't have this in my possession. It may go to SOS and I don't want to name the price as I'm not sure if I was given a better price than the public. It is close to what the parts are worth but that's too much for me to tie up right now. I'm still raising kids!

Amazing theres' no Centennial medal with that 25 year oaks and those bars. But wow, I want it to be real.

That doesn't bother me as there was a time gap between when the oaks were instituted and then the Centenary medal.  If this guy was still alive when the Centenary medal was instituted he probably had to have a new bar constructed.  I'd love to have this bar in my collection.
