    Gents,

An OGI that recently surfaced in the former Soyuz.  It was awarded to a Guards sergeant major who served as a reconnaissance scout in an independent Guards reconnaissance company assigned to a Guards rifle division subordinate to 2nd Guards Army, 3rd Belorussian Front.  He was recommended for his OGI for valor in action in mid-April 1945 in East Prussia.

He was additionally awarded an ORS, an erroneous second OGIII and two BMs during the war.  He also marched in the historic June 24, 1945, Victory Parade on Red Square.

    Gents,

This OGII to a Full Cavalier recently sold at auction in the former Soyuz for $340.00.  The recipient was a corporal serving as a sapper-recon scout assigned to an independent sapper battalion subordinate to a rifle division in 3rd Guards Army, 1st Ukrainian Front.  Mistakenly recommended and approved for a second OGII for valor in action in Czechoslovakia in October 1944, the error was not detected and corrected until 1984 when his OGI was finally presented.  He was also decorated with two ORS and a BM during the war.

    Gents,

For the first time in almost three years, the well-known NYC-area dealer has an OGI for sale.  Price:  $13,500.00 (a 38% price hike over the last one he offered).  It was awarded to a junior sergeant who was a gun crew member in a rifle regiment subordinate to a rifle division in 5th Shock Army, 1st Belorussian Front.  He was recommended for the award for valor in action in mid to late April 1945 to include during street fighting in the heart of Berlin.

Finally decided to register on this forum since I have been following this forum for a looong time already. Especially for this thread particularly which has my interest. Thanks slave1stclass for keeping this thread going throughout the years! It's informative, educative and very nice to see where the Glory 1 awards are available worldwide. Speaking of, the New York sale will have in their January 24 auction another OGI up for auction, # 1049 awarded to Guards Sergeant Veligantsev A.F., mechanic and driver of a SU85.

    Thanks Ferdinand!

Maybe also time for me to show my Full cavalier set. The set is awarded to Senior Sergeant Vladimir Romanovich Madzhar, gun commander of an artillery piece, who was awarded his Glory 1st class on June 27 1945 for fighting at Kunzendorf where he fought off an enemy attack, killing 20 Germans and furthermore taking one officer as prisoner and killing 2 Germans with his personal weapon. The Glory 1st class I bought from Matt (sovietorders.com) some years ago and he knew where the remaining medals were so he helped me to reunite this grouping which came with originals documents from the archives.

Sadly the Red Star is missing from this grouping.
