    2. Dear forumites i think I haven’t shown here this civilian medal bar yet… unfortunately no name yet, but judging from the combination and dark blue backing cloth on the reverse, it could be also a naval officer (medical?), either native (not necessarily since the BMVO3X is placed in the end of the bar) of Bavaria or served in a unit/ship with Bavarian connection. Either way I strongly believe it‘s Godet bar, judging from the neatly folded ribbons on the obverse. Orders & Medals on the medal bar: • Preußen, Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse, 1914 (OEK 1909), E/S; • Preußen, Roter Adler Orden 4. Klasse (OEK 1704), S; • Preußen, Kronen-Orden 3. Klasse (OEK 1757), G; • Preußen, Rote Kreuz Medaille 2. Klasse 1898-1921 (OEK 1871), S; • Preußen, Landwehr-DA 1. Klasse 1876-1920 (OEK 1977), S/G; • Preußen, Rote Kreuz Medaille 3.Klasse 1898-1916 (OEK 1972), Br vg; • Bayern, Militär-Verdienstorden, Kreuz 3. Kl. mit Schwertern, nur 834 Verleihungen (OEK 405), G • Lippe-Detmold, Kriegsverdienstkreuz am Band für Kämpfer (OEK 1190), GBr vg • Weimarer Republik, Deutsche Ehrendenkmünze des Weltkrieges mit Kampfabzeichen der Ehrenlegion (DN 2.02.17 a/b) Cheers Claudio
    3. Hi everybody, I think Shezx's medal bar is a good one, judging by the neat folding of the ribbons on the front and the ribbon bows on the back. That looks typical Godet to me. The backing is not of the usual good quality used before the First World War or in 1930s, but I have seen this type of inferior quality backing fabric on bars made immediately after the First World War and in the early 1920s. Cheers, C
    4. Dear forumites, I'd like to read your opinions about this German Silesian Eagle 1st class with a screw back disk on the reverse. I like the front but I have my doubts about the screw back on the reverse. Thank you in advance your kind inputs and comments. Cordially C PS: I am enclosing also an interesting article of Klietmann for the OMSA. Omsa article by Dr. Klietmann.pdf
    5. Earlier in the 20ies G wore the ZLO without Eichenlaub, later he had upgraded it… I think that nobody had the courage to point that out to him.

    8. Dear friends and forumites, I can't wait to get my hands on these books... On the other hand, you will see: as soon as this publication hits the market, the prices of Bavarian MVOs and MVKs will skyrocket. 😞 https://militariafachbuch.com/Der-Koeniglich-Bayerische-Militaer-Verdienstorden-Sascha-Zimmermann Cheers, C
    9. This is Reichsheini's medal bar... I don't know which collection it's in today, but it's out there somewhere in private hands. As you can see there is no Ehrenkreuz für Kriegsteilnehmer on that bar. But I think H would have been entitled at least to wear the Ehrenkreuz für Kriegsteilnehmer (non combatants) since he was an officer candidate since January 1918. See also: Ailsby collection The Medal bar belonging to Heinrich Himmler - Reichsführer-SS u. Chef der Deutschen Polizei. consisting of the 12 Year SS Long Service cross, 15 Year NSDAP Long Service cross, 10 Year NSDAP Long Service cross, Occupation of Austria, Occupation of Czechoslovakia with "Prague Castle" bar, Occupation of Memal, and West Wall madals. The medal bar in the original presentation case was found on 2nd May 1945 by men of Company E, 22nd Infantry Regiment of the US Army, at Himmler's summer home at Gmund, Tergensee. Protective case may be more appropriate as it was most probably constructed specifically for this bar when it was produced by the jeweler at Himmler's direction. The case measures approximately 21 cm by 15.5 cm. It is covered with a blue simulated leather, and is secured by two hinged clasps. The interior of the lid is white satin bearing the logo "T. Reiman Berlin W. Friedrichstr. 188". The bottom of the case is dark blue velvet, and is slotted to receive the medal bar and ribbon bar.

    11. Dear forumites, As a pre-Christmas preview, I wanted to show you one of the last purchases of 2023. The group came from an auction house, but I have some pictures on my PC of this group being sold in early 2000 first by an American Imperial dealer (Rittermeister aka "Expensivemeister") and later by a very reputable dealer in Hamburg (Mr W.). Particularly interesting to me was the student's "Bierzipfel": the coat of arms ((old royalist "Prussian" emblem from before 1815) on this piece and the French names on it look to me to come from the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland), but I don't have any proof of this. I would be grateful to anyone who can provide me with any information about Captain Galle and his service with the 2GFAR before and during the Great War, as this officer seems to have fought at the front during the Great War, earning many gallantry awards and also being wounded at least once. Thank you for your attention and enjoy the pictures! Cheers, C. Description of the seller: Auszeichnungsgruppe mit 5-teiliger Ordensschnalle Hauptmann Galle, 2.Garde-Fußart.Regt. Regiment.
