    1. I have recently come across a US Distinguished Service Cross and a Distinguished Flying Cross both engraved on the reverse in capitals FOR DISPLAY, does anyone have any idea about the status of these pieces. I have tried googling but with no success, mind you if you googled Chimpanzee you would probably get " Aaron B Chimpanzee was born in Brownsville Texas October 5 1928". Any help gratefully received. Paul
    2. What is an utterbpain is there is no number and the amount of a browns around must be legion, will take an immense ammount of digging, could try Rhino research in South Africa. P
    3. It is possible the term tailor's copy denotes the genuine type without initials, worth asking Michael Autengruber, who does the ODM at Kunker, is extremely nice and I am sure he would try to oblige with sharper images if asked. Paul
    4. Would be nice if one could get a better image, but unless it is awful quality has to be at least 5-10 times the estimate. Curiouser and curiouser. P
    5. Looks ok to me just bashed to hell in the silver market, naming looks standard Calcutta impressing nwf 30-31+ and nwf 36-37 is probably the most frequently encountered pair. P
    6. Azad kashmir was the movement for an independent Kashmir nothing to do with pakistan (or India). P
    7. George V sovereigns were the last to be spendable in tbe Uk. The Edward VIII issue was only a trial coin one sold in 2014 for £430,000. The George VI sovereign was only issued in thd proof sets. Both the last 2 are sold as bullion coins. p
    8. The most likely answer is Afghanistan, North West Frontier 1919, many poor devils from British units stationed in India at the time of the Armistice had their demob delayed to to enjoy the delights of the North West Frontier (either baking hot or freezing cold and with a murderous bunch of locals who lived by the code "My enemy's enemy is my friend". Paul
    9. I totally agree they look halal P
    10. Ah I remember cataloguing it, GVI took part in the battle of Jutland so the poor bugger deserved an MID, probably didn't help his stammer. p
    11. Looks totally kosher with engraved naming. A few years ago I was talking to a dealer who had been in the trade since the 60s. He made a throw away mark about unnamed Crimeas being much rarer now than 50-60 years ago and engraved much more common. Paul
    12. Ashanti has a central stripe, given the guy is a jolly jack tar I would suggest Transport Medal. P
