Gentlemans Military Interest Club Rules or ?Articles of War?
Membership of GMIC is open to all Ladies & Gentlemen of good standing. It is primarily a discussion forum with a Militaria and Military History Theme. The internet knows no boundaries and this forum has membership from countries the breadth of the world. However GMIC was founded in Great Britain and therefore recognises British Values and Laws. As a consequence it is managed to reflect old British values of gentlemanly conduct.

1. Membership Rates:
Free.
2. User Names:
Joining members are asked to select an appropriate user name, their real name or incorporating their first name into the user name being the preferable choice. This allows other members a suitable form of address if responding to posts. Unsuitable user names that are potentially offensive are not permitted and will not be activated. User names that misrepresent another living person are not permissible.
3. Avatars & Signatures:
Members are asked when choosing avatars or users signatures to use images that are of an non commercial nature. Commercial advertising by the use of images or the use of URLs within avatars or signatures is not acceptable. Inappropriate, scandalous and offensive images or signatures will also be removed and the member will incur punishment as the Executive Board shall think fit to impose.
4. Probationary Members Accounts:
On joining the forum members will be given a restricted users account. This account gives members the ability to post messages and upload small photographs, but has other restrictions placed on it. This account will automatically be upgraded to a ?Full Membership? account when the new member has shown commitment to the club and is deemed by the management to be suitable for full membership.
5. Posting Rules
Members are free to post within areas that are accessible by their level of membership. All posts will be in line with the guidance set out below.
5.1 Please remember that GMIC is not responsible for any messages posted. GMIC do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message.
5.2 The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of GMIC or the Executive board. Any member or guest who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact the Chairman immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if it is determined that removal is necessary.
6. Postings
6.1 Members are asked to NOT USE UPPER CASE LETTERS WHEN POSTING, this is because it is considered to be SHOUTING and can be construed as being rude.
6.2 Politics & Religion
No Political or Religious Viewpoints are allowed to be discussed other than in a historical context. It is understood that some topical news stories or the current situation within current world conflicts may need to be discussed, such subjects by their nature may be very emotive. Such topics may be discussed on the proviso that they do not cross the boundary of members expressing their own political or religious viewpoints.
6.3 Posting Other Inappropriate Content
Members who post obscene, profane oaths, threatening, swearing, cursing, execrations, or other scandalous actions, in derogation of God?s honour and corruption of good manners, shall have their posting removed or altered and incur punishment as the Executive Board shall think fit to impose.
6.4 Members who display words, audio and/or visible representations which: express racism, sexism, homophobia, religious hatred, generally conceived to be detrimental to the well being of another club member, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. Shall have their posting removed or altered and incur punishment as the Executive Board shall think fit to impose.
6.5 The spamming of posts by advertising Commercial Sites or products is not permitted.
6.6 Copyright Material
Members should not post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by them, they have the owners implied or express permisssion or is owned by GMIC.
7. Private Message System
Please remember that GMIC is not responsible for any messages transmitted by the Personal Message (PM) System. GMIC do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message.
7.1 Members who use the GMIC?s Private Message (PM) System to correspond obscene, profane oaths, threatening, swearing, cursing, execrations, or other scandalous actions, in derogation of God?s honour and corruption of good manners, shall have their PM permissions removed and will incur punishment as the Executive Board shall think fit to impose.
7.2 Members who use GMIC?s Private Message (PM) system to display words, audio and/or visible representations which: express racism, sexism, homophobia, religious hatred, generally conceived to be detrimental to the well being of another club member, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. Shall have their PM permissions removed and will incur punishment as the Executive Board shall think fit to impose.
7.3 Members who use GMIC?s Private Message System to send unsolicited commercial links or products will have their PM permissions removed and will incur punishment as the Executive Board shall think fit to impose.
8. The Selling of Items and Private Sales
8.1 Linking to non-commercial private collectors sites, which include items for sale is permitted.
8.2 The sale or advertisement of items directly within the for sale section by auction or Dutch auction arrangements are not permitted.
8.3 Linking to commercial auction sites i.e. ebay, is permitted only on an infrequent, ad hoc basis. The regular posting of links to third party auction sites is not permitted.
8.4 The arrangement of sales is private contracts between both parties. GMIC is not responsible for any items sold or advertised for sale.
8.5 If members are found to be partly or wholly misrepresenting items for sale they will be have their posting privileges removed and incur punishment as the Executive Board shall think fit to impose.
8.6 Posting Sales
When posting items for sale members are asked to either post or link to a clear detailed picture of the item(s) being sold. The advertisement should also clearly indicate the price of the item, the currency of sale and the total domestic postal charges. If possible members should also try and quote international postal costs.
8.7 Members are reminded that sales are a Gentleman's agreements and sellers should always try and facilitate returns within a reasonable period, especially if there is good reason which supports the buyers concern over any item sold.
8.8 No live firearms, live ammunition or explosives are permitted to be advertised. Deactivated firearms with Relevant Proof House Certificates & Inert Ammunition is acceptable. Deactivated Weapons, Swords, Knives and Bayonets should only be sold to over 18?s and are restricted to items of historical interest Only.
8.9 Inappropriate items will be removed from sale.
