Chris Boonzaier Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Finally, after ages of looking I have landed my WW1 tunic. Not an issue one, which is a pity, but therefore an identifiable one, and 1a mint... which I did not think existed for WW1 jackets. It has maybe 2% wear to it.The name is not that readable, but it has been identified here.... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=16591
Paul R Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 This is the best WW1 German set up I have seen!! Does the bomb on the shoulder board represent Artillery?
Mike Dwyer Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 (edited) I'm going to go out on a limb (because I'm no expert here) and say this is a captain from Feld-Artillerie-Regiment von Puecker (1. Schlesisches) Nr.6. Edited March 29, 2007 by Mike Dwyer
Chris Boonzaier Posted March 29, 2007 Author Posted March 29, 2007 Yup, check out the link at the top. Rick and Glenn gave me a load of info. All the bestChris
Guest Rick Research Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 I have not seen a set that nice in 40 years. Now you need the regimental history to put a face to him. And figure out exactly what awards he got. No sign of his Oberst's uniform?
Mike Dwyer Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Yup, check out the link at the top. Rick and Glenn gave me a load of info. All the bestChrisSorry, Chris, I was so blown away by the tunic I didn't even notice the link to the ID information!
Chip Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Chris,Congratulations on the Feldgrau uniform! They are very tough to find in that kind of condition. I like the fact that you know who owned it and that you will most likely be able to find out what awards were on the missing ribbon bar. Good luck with the new hunt. Now you have to find an issue enlisted one in the same condition! I have the Erkennungsmarke of an officer of the same regiment, who might have known him. Here's the back of one of his disks.Chip
Roeland Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Very nice Chris! Finally, after ages of looking I have landed my WW1 tunicall worth the time I'd say, the result may be there; a super tunic.
Chris Boonzaier Posted April 6, 2007 Author Posted April 6, 2007 Chris,I like that Afrikakorps gas mask can! ChipSo do I :-)It can from a Guy in the states years ago. Not a collector and it was a family Heirloom. The paint is period, used, abused and rusted.Strangely enough no traces of green under it.I wish I knew who did it, there is no indication that it is anything but period.
Chris Liontas Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Nice display Chris!! They dont come much nicer than that!
Chris Boonzaier Posted June 1, 2007 Author Posted June 1, 2007 Dave Danner did a bit of killer research for me...Have a great action report about the owner of the tunic in action.........yup.... me be a happy boy indeed !!!
