    1. Could I please have comments on this, it in the DINA4 size, Forman listed it as a type two variation. It was pooh-poohed on the WA. I just want to check as the paper and embossing of the eagle looks pretty convincing to me. Thank you. couple more scans
MfG. John
    3. Yes, I know of and own the book but the pictures of the tunics and tresse in the book are not clear. I have the earlier smaller version of the book that was published by the Bavarian Army museum which has the drawings and in many ways is better. I used to have the email for Jürgen Kraus but he no longer is at the Army Museum. I will contact some other people. Thank you for the information on the blue ranks and material used.
    4. Thanks for posting the pictures, two of them appear to be the earlier blue felt. The images are not clear enough to see the tresse type. The silver tresse is what I am trying to identify. The tresse used by officers looks wider. The enlisted and NCO ranks may be the narrow type used for the Schiessauszeichnung. There is a very nice image of it in the image posted here in #121 https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/weimar-soft-headgear/reichswehr-caps-1919-1934-a-137317-13/
    5. Thanks, I did not make the image and know the dates are not correct. Thank you for the detailed information on the blue wool rank cloth, Do you have an example of or know the type of silver tresse used in the rank system on the the right and as worn by the illustrated officer etc. Thank you.
    6. Trying to identify the type of tresse used for the sleeve ranks of the Provisional and early RH as seen on the soldier and on the right in the image below. Does someone know or have an example. I would guess it is a WWI pattern. Thanks.
    7. Thank you, I nrmally collect WWII era uniforms. This will be used in forthcoming book on WWII era German dress unforms to show the evolution of the idea and types of uniforms used in semi-formal and casual occasions.
    8. Okay, thank you. This is why I ask and do not always trust the references or myself. That makes everything much easier. I hope it is named. It was on auction with a very brief description.
    9. I just bought this today. I believe the shoulder boards are DR 19 (?) which would not be correct for a dragoon jacket the black piping. According to references I have on hand, black edging with nickel buttons would be worn by officers in Dragoon Rgts 6, 18, or 22. I would like to ask if this is correct please before restoring the uniform or removing the shoulder boards. Thank you for your time.
    10. Looking for photos of Ministerialdirigent Johann Martin "Max" Zeidelhack in TR era Heer uniform, seems to be very hard to find any images of him at all for someone that was so active in business and with the NSDAP so early. Here is his military bio- He had a neck order as well I have not been able to identify it. https://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=238413 Thank you in advance for your time.
    11. This is a pencil drawing of an unknown GS Oberst I just rediscovered in storage. I was hoping someone might be able to help me identify him, Thank you for your time.
    12. I picked this up in a German auction today. I have looked through lists of the Army officers assigned to the Heer Legion Condor units and early war OKH GS Officers did not find a good match. The drawing is dated 1943 but the date of the image must be very early war. He has WWI Bavarian awards and what looks like the 1901 Prince Luitpold medal putting him close to 60 in the time of the start of the war. He is not wearing the Legion Condor Spanish cross on the right so I had thoguht it might be before May 1939 when the crosses were awarded but he appears to have a KVK in his button hole which would mean after the war started in late 1939. The other ribbon is red and white ribbon (also Spanish?) under it. Any help appreciated.
    13. Thank you very much. Another reason to love this forum. Now I can complete it with the proper awards and put it in a future book on Heer piped tunics. Best, John
    14. Hello Glenn and Dave, thank you very much for the information. The mispelling of the name is a grey matter issue as I was researching the correct spelling on ancestry but did not have the first mane or DOB. He is listed as Oberst Lt. a.D in the Honor Rangliste from the 1920s. Thank you for the DOB and first name. As to the article from the Osnabruck paper, too bad I cannot go back in time as I was stationed near Munster (Werl) in the 1980s. I would love to find a period photo of the elder Teubner.
    15. I was lucky enough to pick up this very interesting jacket named to Hauptman Taubner and dated August 1914. Taubner survived WWI and reached the rank of Oberstleutant at leaving the service. Following Reichsheer and early Wehrmacht regulations for wear of uniforms of retired personeel, the jacket was modified with white piping and dress insignia (after the post WWI change from red to white for infantry) and had the collar replaced with the lighter green RH colored wool. Later the WH eagle was added. Does anyone happen to have additional information on Taubner? I have the Rangliste info with him in IR 26 but could not find much else in Ancestry etc. Thank you!
    16. In this case the forehead effect is more related to the angle of the photo I took. This is taken at eye level without a downward angle. Carl Specht was a well known portrait painter of that period.
    17. Thank you for all the help. With the luxury of the photo that was the basis of the portrait it becomes a bit easier. The back of the portrait has the name of a early commander of RR 2- "Heinrich Deetjen" and "Regiment Kommandeur Allenstein" written on the frame but I knew it was not him. He was promoted to Oberst Lt. with a DOR of 1.4.30. He remains in the lists until 1932 at that rank and is not in the 1935/36 lists. He have retired and been given a final promotion which is reflected in the portrait. The wound badge not being shown in my opinion is the result of the painting being based on the photo, he may not have sat for the portrait which was common. The rank in the portrait appears to be major?, he is listed in RR 13 at that rank in 1929 and then is with RR 2 in 1930. This would mean the photo dates to about 1930 and the painted portrait created at some time thereafter either with his final rank of with an earlier painting with the rank upgraded upon retirement etc. Not sure why it is highlighted in white. Sorry about that. Thank you again.
    18. Hi, Don was nice enough to post this for me. Karl Will is not a good fit. While he was in that unit, he was promoted to Oberst Lt. in 1930 and did not command the 2nd RR he also had the WB in black which was an award that surely would have been shown in the portrait. The rank on the shoulder boards is Oberst. I think the third award is the Red Eagle. The uniform and style of the painting looks to date to the mid to later 1920s.
    19. Ah yes Dave sorry, I also did not see the d.R. sorry. Yes me too, I was looking for WWII items and found this. In the auction it was described as "Six Assorted Military Pins". When I called the auction to make payment they referred to it as " the French Medals". Tiny town in the central US.
    20. Thank you Dave, some of those men i found in the 1924 Ranklist as well. Elbenstein is only listed as having the SA3bX in 1924. I appreciate your time. I mostly do reasearch or WWII Heer officers and do not have more than the basic books for Imperial research and the Honor rank list. The bar is already in a case and I do not want to take it out. I can post the horrible images from the auction when it was sold showing the rear. Lucky it was not more damaged. Probably had kids playing with it etc.
    21. Thank you, I was "afraid" of that. I still of course appreciate the bar and it is a wonderful example but it would of course been nice to tie it to an individual. Based on what the auctioneer told me, it was brought back after WWII by an American officer. The auction I bought it in sold part of his estate and there were WWII US Army items and officers uniforms but this was the only WWI item which supports what i was told.
    22. Picked this up and managed to put it back together in good order (first image) from the horrible way it had been sold in an auction (second image). I looked in the 1924 Army Rangliste and could not find matches with these awards and the Prussian Military Merit Award. Are there any other sources to try and identify the wearer. Thank you!
    23. Can someone please post the correct title for the WWII era Dienstalterslist for Heer Officials. I have seen it referred to in several different ways but would like to know the actual full title. I think a couple years ago Glenn J. posted an image of the cover but I could not relocate that thread. Thank you, John
    24. Hi Glenn, JHodgson here. You helped me in the past with rank lists. Could you email me please- phaseonearchaeology@gmail.com
