Hi Viliam,
the general job of a Stabswache was to keep the staff, the commander and the headquarter safe, The soldiers of those Stabswachen came from every branch of the military. Thats pretty much all i know about this, sorry.
Regarding your second question, there is a wonderful article about the Crown Order Medal on Andreas Schulze Isings (who is also a member here) website:
http://www.medalnet.net/Kronenorden_Medaille.htm
If you need help with a translation, let me know.
all the best,
Gerd

Intersting and entertaining article. I was aware of some of those expressions, but there were lots of others, which were unknown to me. Thanks Dave!

Now thats a nice documented group. How often did Wilhelm hand out EK´s himself? There can´t be too much of these around, right?

Dan,
your first piece is a very late LMD example awarded from 50-55 and the second one with the missing h&s is a LMD produced around November 44. Did you find a replacement by now for the h&s?
Paul,
the OPW 83xxx is a nice early KMD piece. Love it!0 -
Looks to me like a very nice original example. Grats Alexander!

Thanks, Bob. Glad to be back. I am just trying to get through the soviet-section, but other parts of the forum (especially the mongolia forum) keep distracting me

Wonderful medalbar and photos, Roman.
Help me to identify the Orders and Medals on the Officers bar:
Prussian Red Eagle Order 4th class with swords?
Lippe-Detmold 1866 medal
Landwehr Long service cross for 20 years?
Lippe-Detmold Military Merit Medal? Is that right?
best,
Gerd

Ohhh that would make this even more tragic.
Thats true. But i wouldn´t count out the possibility, that these were stored for a long time and the vet just didn´t care about the suspensions and they got lost along the way. They may have never been worn again after the war, who knows...

Very nice... but I wonder what happened to the suspensions?
They could have been mounted on a medalbar.

Hello there,
i have this map, which i probably got with something else (i don´t remember). I probably gonna sell it and i´d like to ask you guys for a fair price to ask. I don´t know anything about map-collecting or if thats a thing at all.
Its a map "Nur für den Dienstgebrauch" (Only for official use) of Kotelnitsch and this map is obviously a part of a map set of european russia. The reverse is some kind of plastic, which has some age. There are a few holes on the paper on some of the folding points, but overall the map is in good condition.
I´d appreciate any help with the pricing of this item.
Thanks
Gerd
Edit: I just realized, there is an evaluation forum. Sorry about that, maybe a mod can move the thread there?

They were both, Paul. small stamped numbers, either with or without a "D" and handengraved examples, also with and without "D". Check out Schmidt/McDaniel bible page 373 ff, if you have it.
Or Modvor.narod.ru for more examples.
best,
Gerd

Well, afaik, in Germany, its property of the german state, if you find something of historical value. If you´re lucky, you get some kind of compensation, which is just a small fraction of the real worth.

Thanks, Paul.
Here is a reissue, i have. I think, its legit, but like to hear other opinions.
Looks to me like its done with an unissued piece, The slightly strange colored area around the s/n is probably from someone cleaning that area to be able to read the s/n better, i guess. The area is still pebbled like the rest of the reverse. What do you guys think?

Hello Frunzich,
don´t be dissappointed, its probably just because there are very few people, who can add anything to the info, you posted. I for one know nothing about the WW1 Bulgarian Red Cross society, but i am allways interested to hear more about it.
all the best,
Gerd

Thanks a lot, John. Glad to hear that. I noticed, they are getting scarce, i couldn´t find too many of them on the internet, at least not of the three-piece examples. Its really a nice little pin.

Campaign medals fakecheck
in Russia: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
Posted
Hi there,
i got a few single campaign medals, which i would like you to take a look at. In Hand they look okay, but some of the fakes are pretty good nowadays, so i´d rather have someone else take a look too.
Any red flags?
Thanks in advance
