  1. Hi gents, i am not a collector of KM cap tallies but i am a collector of KM photographs, especially images that show awards in wear. I also like to collect images of the various KM cap tallies in wear, besides the standard wartime issue "Kriegsmarime" tally. I like to look for the Zerstorer tallies. I beleive that many of the "named" ship tallies are pre-WWII but correct me if i am wrong here. This is my latest addition that shows a crewman from the Zerstorer Friedrich Ihn. Please show any images you have of rare or "unusual" tallies in wear. Regards,Martin.
  2. Very nice additions Justin. Cheers,Martin.
  3. Besides collecting HSK awards i do collect photographs of KM awards in wear. This one is a new arrival and has become my favorite portrait.A great studio shot of Ernst Schwabe who was a crewman on the HSK "Stier". Just a great portrait,IMO,and yes,he is wearing the HSK award. So,please show your favorite portraits that show KM awards in wear. Regards,Martin.
  4. Looking at his service record it appears he did not serve on any Hilfskreuzer. Cheers,Martin. http://www.geocities.ws/orion47.geo/WEHRMACHT/KRIEGSMARINE/Vizeadmirals/RIEVE_FRIEDRICH.html
  5. Now that is a nice one Larry. With awards and specialty badges. Great photo. Cheers,Martin.
  6. Here's a little info Larry. Cheers,Martin. http://www.ww2.dk/air/seefl/mausi.html
  7. The Luft guy was probably a member of a Mausi Unit ? They flew Ju 52's and were involved in Minesweeping operations. Here's one that I have. What I like about this photo is that you can see that he is wearing a horizontal pin Minesweeper award by Deumer. Cheers,Martin.
  8. No idea on how many postcards were printed Edgar ? This is a real photo PK and it was written by one of the U-9 crewmen and sent to his uncle with reference to the sinking of HMS Hawke. Cheers,Martin.
  9. The crew of the U-9 in a photo postcard dated 1914. I think the tallies read UNTERSEEBOOTS.HALBFLOTTILLE.
  10. I'm not a moderator here, and yes I started this thread years ago,and I titled it "Kriegsmarine" because I did not collect, and knew little about Imperial navy history, where as I was a collector of KM awards and photo's. Yes,we can add pre-Kriesgsmarine tallies to the thread but I think the earlier tallies might benefit more in their own thread in the Imperial forum ?? Now I love to look at photo's and there has been some great stuff posted here over the years. So, I pose this question to the main crontributors to this thread....Should we add the Kaiserliche/Imperial tallies and re-title the thread or ask for a new thread on pre-KM tallies to be added to the Imperial forum ?? I guess i'm good either way. Regards,Martin.
  11. It's a specialized subject Morten that not many can contribute to,i think. As mentioned, there is interest but not a day to day subject. I have very little Narvik related items and what I have has been posted. Regards,Martin.
  12. Great photo's gents !! This is the only one I have. Cheers,Martin.
  13. Same insignia as above, posted by Larry.
  14. I agree with Hubert. It's a postwar reproduction. Regards,Martin.
  15. Great photo's guys !!!! Cheers,Martin.
  16. Hi Josh, the tally appears to be for one of the "Marinenachrichtenstelle". Cheers,Martin.
  17. My guess is that we are seeing some of the Pinguin's prize officers here also. There were a lot, especially those that made it back to Bordeaux on the 11 captured Norwegian Whalers, plus other prize ships, before the sinking of the Pinguin by HMS Cornwall. This is a photo I have of Ludolf Petersen, who was a prize officer on the Admiral Scheer and then transferred to the Pinguin. He made it back to Bordeaux on one of the Norwegian Whalers and later became the 1st Officer on the HK Stier. Regards,Martin.
  18. It looks to me like the known "Popeye" fake due to the bulging eye on the eagle.A Staegemeir fake based slightly on the Juncker design, mainly in the reverse set up. A little bit more here from GCA. http://www.germancombatawards.com/thread.php?threadid=22124 Regards,Martin.
