Eons ago, I had Lowell Thomas's "Raiders of the Deep" which came out at about the same time.
Rick, is this a good book?

That's a Very Cool Jacket you have there! Butch
Thank you. I have many RAF and RCAF items tucked away.

I agree with Rick, no reason to donate items to museums. I have heard horror stories as you all have about items being stolen, lost, misplaced, etc.
These are already in a collection by now. Ed is right, the job was commisioned...

This is one example of it. I'm not showing the one I'm going to buy due to my own paranoia.

Did you get the jacket? Do you have photos of it to post?

Neureuther published several books about his WW1 adventures, among them one in English: "U-boat stories" (1926).
I'd think info would be available here;

Hi Charles,
yes, that is the then Major (later char. Generalmajor) Theodor Sproesser 10.9.70 - 8.2.1933
Regards
Glenn
Glenn,
Thank you, a very nice photo. Sproesser had a nice order bar.

Charles,
Oberst Martin Freiherr v. Oldershausen, the Chief of Staff of 3rd Army was a Saxon. I think it very likely to be the ribbon of his Knight's Cross of the Saint Henry Order.
Regards
Glenn
Glenn, thanks you your reply. I guess it could be. I like those photos wtih soldiers/officers wearing ribbons other than the EK2 in the button hole. I don't see them very often.

The shape of the pinback is not Reuss. I think that is rather the Honor Cross of the W?rttemberg Crown Order.
I think you are correct. I guess it's safe to say he has an EK1 that he chose not to wear on this day!
Can you receive such awards without having earned the EK1 along them way?
BTW, who is he?

It may be, but to my eyes there seems to be more going on between the arms of the cross than just swords and I can't seem to find a picture that matches it. It may just be shadows, but it looks like there is something else between the arms.
Yeah, you are right about it being busy between the arms. I wish someone had better photos of these men

I tried to monkey with the photos to see if we could get the decorations any larger and more recognizable, but I'm not sure how much good it did.
I may be wrong, but I believe the bottom cross on the fellow on the right is the sewn-on cloth Ritterkreuz of the Johanniter Order.
I think you are right about that one. What are the other two breast orders. The one on the left loos like a Wurttemberg Crown Order.

Is this Major Sproesser or Stroesser?
Does anyone have a better photo of this man? I've love to see more detail of his medals bar and uniform.

What about this man?

These two men appear to be wearing high honors but what are they?

Is the ribbon bar on this Staff officer a non combat EK2 ribbon? It looks like it to me but is that possible?

My favorite item this year. It came with matching trousers!
Feldwebel-Leutnant of Hessen IR116

Okay guys, what pattern is this officer's shoulder board?
1910 or 1915 Friedens?

This is an attractive cap but I'm not sure what it is? It's not General Staff.

Can anyone tell what's on his boards? Maybe the
person who owns the original can see more detail.

Cuff detail
Herr Schmidt's Helmet...
He desperately needs his LRG straps back...

Rick,
It looks like Feldwebelleutnant Curt Beyer has slip on boards that are sewn down. If so that pretty cool. My Hessen Feldwebelleutnant has slip-on boards that have been sewn down very neatly and tightly on the shoulder seem.
Do you have any other photos of enlisted, NCOs, officer substitutes that are wearing insignia or uniforms that are not correct to their unit and/or their uniform?
Nice photos are hard to come by. It seems you guys with more time behind you have pretty nice photo archives.

Photo of a private of The Hungarian Gendarmerie, known as the Csendőrs?g.
Peter, your work is absolutely amazing. I've tried it and it is not easy at all. Have you done any German or Austro-Hungarian generals?
