    1. Hi All, Some photos of a Luftwaffe drum skirt, with the yellow backing for flight/para units. A fairly hefty piece, being over 6 foot long, but the eagle is a rather incredible piece of work, and quite impressive I think, Some photos..... Bob
    2. Hello Woodeye, "Kiss of Death", it means your cap is not good, the two gents I asked have had a vast amount of experience with tropical caps, and I value their opinions very much, and although I don't know Bob W (above), his reputation is well known too, as a very experienced and with vast amounts of experience, so I really would heed their call, and don't touch the blue cap. I can't spell it out any clearer than that. Sorry mate ! Bob
    3. And a reply from John H., author of the book 'Paratroops in North Africa', and a mod on the WAF's para section:- " And the Berolina marking is the same style as in the side caps that I do not like." Pretty much gives the cap the kiss of death mate, sorry. Bob
    4. Hi all, As I have been quiet for a while, I thought I would post up some photos that you don't see every day, the Air Traffic Control Branch in action. from a period publication (Der Adler). And I will post up a couple of photos of my ATC visor to go with the shots. I have posted the cap before on this forum, with several detailed shots, so will restrict this to just a couple of the cap, but main reason is to post the period shots of the ATC in action.... Bob
    5. Got a nice fast response back, not looking good I'm afraid, Larry F., (US) said : "I don't like it. The gromments and marking (from what I can see) look bogus for starters." Bob
    6. Thanks Paul, and I hope you had a great Christmas too. All the very best for the New Year mate. Sorry to hear that you don't like California !! One of the pains of a posting, some good, some not so good !! I have posted a reply about that blue cap, and will see if I can get some info on it.
      Best wishes
      Bob

    7. Hi Woodeye, Cap looks well made, but originals are exceptionally scarce. I have never seen one in the flesh, and only have some images in a couple of books to go on, and they have some issues from what I have been told. Sorry I can't give a definite on your cap, but will see if I can get an opinion or two from a couple of advanced tropical collectors I know and get back to you. (I can't say that it gives me warm fuzzy feelings though). Bob
    8. Absolutely stunning Gordon, great to see the end result. Do you have a photo with it that shows the size of the overall model ?? I am guessing it is rather huge ! Must also add that the skill of the modeller shows through with the build as well. Fantastic work !!! Bob
    9. Thanks again Bill, really appreciate your assistance Best wishes Bob
    10. slightly different view, the father also has Korea, Borneo and Malaya amongst that lot.... Bob
    11. Hi all, I have the pleasure of showing a pair of medal groups from the same family, first up is a group from a Corps of Signals WO2 with Vietnam service followed by the son's group, the son is still serving, also in RASigs, and is a SGT with recent Afghanistan service. Photos courtesy of SGT Duncan Bicket. Hope you like the pix, Cheers Bob
    12. Thanks very much for that Bill, one out of three from the EK I's isn't bad I suppose, it has been on the shelf for years, finally got the courage to ask, it never gave me a good feeling !! Greatly appreciate the assistance mate, Cheers Bob

    14. My camera doesn't have a macro lens, I tried these with a loup, didn't come out real well, then the batteries died, so at the moment, this is the best I can do with the closer shots....
    15. Next one is a brass centred example, small incuse '15' on the pin (Otto Schickle)....
