    1. That's a tough one, certainly not an award piece, but very convincing construction. I have a similar one with pierced crown which has been dismissed as a fake, but which I believe is an interwar example.

    3. I think fleabay has become one of the most heavily manipulated sources of fakery around.
    4. Wow, not only the OTT ridiculous engraving, but the 'period correct' nonsensical lithography on the inside of the case.
    5. This one's seen some action, but it's scarce: BMVO4mdK by Hemmerle 1905, a converted piece with the flames separately attached.

    7. There are a bunch of fake cases making the rounds now on German fleabay, including some for the various grades of the AO. So yes, extreme vigilance is now the rule.

    10. Hi Lorin, LOL, I generally forget what I have as well. Do you have any info on the provenance of that bar? Here is a Wagner RAO2 on a piece of cut up sash from a RAO GC.
    11. Wow, that is a beauty. Regarding the Frack, these triangular Saxon mounts were usually worn on an angle, otherwise it looks pretty weird. Here is some Wuerttemberg action.
