Hello!
I don´t think, it´s a military button. DSV could stand for Deutscher Schiffahrtsverein or Deutscher Segelverein

Hi,
which book is that?????????
Is it a modern one or period one?
Hi Chris!
I don´t know the book... I´m stil waiting. It´s called:
Das Generalgouvernement Belgien, Zwei jahre deutscher Arbeit, L. Volkmann, 19170 -
I don´t know exactly, but by chance I just wait for a book about the Generalgouvernment Belgien. It should arrive until saturday. Maybe I can find something in it.
H ewears a o7/10 tunic, so he wears the grey shoulder straps. That´s ok. The red ones came later witht he 15 Bluse
Well, I have to leave right now, off to work with me...

Hello!
I also have a photo of that "hidden" shoulder strap.
Note you are wrong with the 3. I read 13 (Nr.13)
That makes sense, because there was the "Luftschiffer-Bataillon Brüssel" (consisted of Luftschiff-Trupps 13 and 15)
So the stamp means MAYBE : Feldtrupp der Luftschiffe Nr.13
The bataillon was dissolved in 1917. It was under command of the O.H.L.
Because of the Faustriemen, he belonged to the mounted artillerists. Normally he had to blacken his white leather...

I'd say this is firing data for planned/priority targets.
Steenstraelt, Ziel-Laus, and Gruppe D are all different planned targets or fire plans.
Under Ziel-Laus:
3 Ldg. / 96 gr. = Charge 3 - the powder charge to use
2695 = Deflection or direction in decigrades (circle/4000); this would be set off on the gunner's sight just below the numbers in the picture
4xx (the last set of numbers on the right are difficult to read) = Elevation; set on another sight - along with powder charge, elevation is related to range
Very good explanation, IG!
There is nothing to add! Thank you!!!

Thanx Chris!
I see different infos about the shooing process. Ranges etc. Funny the word "Ziel-Laus"! (Target-louse).
Steenstraet indicates the pic in Flandres. Do you know the unit and the date?

Hello Dante!
Very nice MP! Is Noskes signature original?
This Lt.d.Res. Pieper served with the Garde-Gren.Rgt.Nr.1 (Alexander). After armistice, he probably joined the Freiwilligen-Bataillon Garde Gren.Rgt.1. This volunteer-bataillon was part of the Freiwilligen 3.Garde-Inf.Brig. (Freiw.2.Garde-Inf.Div.)
In june 1919 they became the Reichswehr-Brigade 26 Fürstenwalde. The bataillon became I.Btl./Reichswehr-Inf.Rgt.51 and stayed in Fürstenwalde
The regiment was active only until october 1919.
Then the I.Btl./RW-Inf.Rgt.51 became I.Btl.Fürstenwalde/Reichswehr-Inf.Rgt.30 Cottbus (Reichswehr-Inf.Brig. 15 Berlin)
End of july 1920 the bataillon became II.Btl. Berlin/Rw-Inf.Rgt.29 Berlin
In october 1920 the brigade 3, brigade 15 and brigade 6 formed the 3.Division of the so-called 100.000 men army and the II.Btl./29 became part of the 9.(preuß.) Inf.Rgt. in Potsdam.
In 1921 53 officers went to the Inf.Rgt.3, 5, 8 and 9
Unfortunately the Rangliste of october 1920 doesn´t show an officer named Pieper, so I assume, he left the army not later than summer 1920

Holy crap... That´s a high number!
Leichte Mun.Kol.934.

Here is a Landwehr Unteroffizier, but his shoulder strap is unknown to me...and I couldn't find an example in my meager references; looks like a "L" ... Landwehr? Luftshiffer" Chip will know, I'm sure...
Hi IG
It´s not an L, it´s a Z. Feldartillerie-Regiment Zossen"

Hi IG!
It must be a late photo.
Every Fußart.Rgt. had an Ersatz-Bataillon. Since end of 1915, those "Garnisons-Batterien" were added, but they were called "Garnisons-Batterie beim Ers.Ntl. Fußart.Rgt.Nr. #", or "#. Garnisons-Batterie beim Ers.Btl.Fußart.Rgt.#.
Since may 1918 they recieved their own numbers. In Prussia numbers 7-28 and in Bavaria 1-6
As far as I know, the Fußart.Garnisons-Batterie 6 was under command of the Gouvernment Lüttich (Liège). Commander was Oberleutnant d.Res. Fries

Ah, yes, I remember! You told me, you wrote Mr. Kraus to turn the sigh in his book... In the book, it looks like an old photo-camera...
I´ll be on sky the entire weekend. Call me, when you have time

Hello!
I´d like to know, for what this insignia (flower?) stands for. Note the bavarian lozenges aside.
The plate could start with a V (5th army), IV (4th army) or W (Armee-Abteilung Woyrsch).
Thank you very much in advance

What do you think of skype writing next weekend?

Have you ever seen a searchlight patch?
Scheinwerfer-Zug 12 (SZ 12) of the saxon Pi.Btl.12

My Garde-Artillerist is a vintage one. The photos of my relartives were coloured last year...
Here are another ones

The patch, of course the patch, Chris!
What can you read on the patch and on the shoulder straps please?
On my photo, I can´t read anything... Maybe it´s a 56 (schwerer MW-Zug 56)
That would be the "Schwerer-MW-Zug 56. Together with the "Mittlerer-MW-Zug168" and "Leichter MW-Zug 282", they built the MW-Kompanie 103 for the 103rd Inf.Div.

Hello!
I recieved a postcard of the Sturmbataillon 14. Unfortunately no photo, but a stamp.
The Feldpost-Nummer 82 fits to Briey (like the picture of the card)

Well, the "Großherzogin Elisbeth" was not a military ship.
