DutchBoy Posted September 15, 2006 Share Posted September 15, 2006 "Dekoratie voor Trouwe Dienst" is Dutch for "Decoration for Faithful Service." Smuts was made a CH in 1917 by King George V and also held a Dekoratie voor Trouwe Dienst for fighting against the British in the Boer War less than 20 years previously! Companion of Honour, by the way, is an honour awarded by the British sovereign "as a reward for outstanding achievements in the arts, literature, music, science, politics, industry, or religion." Your nick is related from it ??Bom dia, Alexandre,After a frustrating search I finally managed to track down Smuts' Companion of Honour award in the London Gazette !Jacarandas?
