Oops, almost forgot to give the resolution, hence the picture here again. this time with the reverse. It is the 1869 issued long service bar after the integration of the Infantry Regiment 93 into the Prussian Army system. The old awards could from then on only be awarded to Anhalt folks and not to foreigners. The new design, similar to the Prussian award was issued April 6, 1870. The long service awards were awarded only and had to be returned with the passing of the recipient. Manufactured by Sy & Wagner:

    ...to keep this threat alive:

A nice and not often seen "newcomer": service award for 9 years of service, dutchy of Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha, 2nd type given between 1888 and 1894 (letter "E" and oakleaves = HuS 1795). For me a really nice one!

According to the interesting link to the thuringian archive given here in the forum it seems to be awarded not so much (only to soldiers of the 6th thuringian IR Nr. 95, 1st and 3rd bataillon).

Hope you like it - and hope to see another to compare ;)

    regards

Taking the original photo and by copying, zooming, cropping, trans-warping... we get a little better picture.

Here are 25, 25 and 15 year crosses which were awarded from 1840 to 1866, a 10 year cross which was

awarded from 1840 to 1866 and a 10 year cross which was awarded from 1865-1866. All are from Frankfurt.

    Hi medalnet,

If that is what I think it is, there was only about... oh, let’s see... maybe... ONE awarded! :jumping:

If nothing else, it is nice to know that it still exists, especially since it would be over 160 years old.

We are not talking a Red Eagle here. Items like this were so commonly lost or thrown out over the years.

Thanks for sharing this one and only.

    Best wishes,
