The ultimate colonial award document South West Africa

That is a fantastic piece. :jumping::jumping: He must have just returned home from being held as a POW (or enemy alien) when DSWA was taken in 1915.

An unbeleivable document - there is rare, very rare, and in comparison to Chris's 'Holy Grail' - I would call this a 'Nail of the Cross'.

Hi,

I think the policemen were released in 1915 already to continue doing their work?

Am away from my books, so cannot confirm.

As far as I know the were interned in South-West-Africa together w the remaining soldiers and a lot of German civilians. But I have asked a specialist for the German African police and will hopefully know more soon, I will keep you informed.

Did you manage to find the info?

Best

Chris

Meanwhile I was happy to get the rest of the documents from another collector. I also found out that the IC document was signed by Oberst BETHE who was the comander of the police troups in SW-Africa, he was also there in 1915 when the German troops surrendered. The policemen were interned in SW-Africa together with the German soldiers. Bethe was released!

Following now the pics of the document group:
