Sachsen-Meiningen, WWI medal bars with SMK

    Recommended Posts

As I said in the other thread, I've forgotten two bars: Firstly, the 8 place medal bar with the Merit Order for Women and Young Ladies of Wilhelm Emil Richter (1852-1936):

    #20 was Generalmajor (1.4.34 #6) Heinrich H?ring

born 29.3.83 Neresheim, W?rttemberg, died when his plane smashed into the Schneeberg in the Fichtelgebirge on 30.4.35 when he was ArKo III.

    HHOX gazetted 1.11.17

    WM3 27.9.15 as "Hptm iG, K?nigsberg"

    WF3aX 16.3.17 as Hptm iG, 12. ID

SA3aX 12.5.16 as Hptm iG Armeegruppe Mitau

    MK2

    BrK

    HH

SMK 26.6.18 as Hptm iG 12. ID

(Not being worn here "all German" but on a bar in a photo of him: ?M3K gazetted 18.4.18)

So that combines the rolls Daniel is slaving over with mine-- a "twofer."

    ONE down.

I won't do the unknowns. If anyone here owns any of them, let me know. This is free for friends but not for strangers. Not enough time in my day and since I do not charge by the hour, my limited time is more valuable to me than anybody else.

Sascha's bar with the BZ3bXmE, HT and MK2 does not immediately leap out at me, since this Hauptmann/Rittmeister ended his military career with the war, but with the aid and computer assistance of Daniel who has Magic Powers I do not, that one too will fall to the Stubby Fingered Roll Transcribers.

    Rick-

Here is a bar you saw a while back - my absolute favorite in my collection. Perhaps it is finally time to figure this guy out. Probably one of the 377 Dr types (on combatant ribbon) you spoke of in the "Sachsen-Meiningen Unpublished Award Rolls 1914-1918" thread. No LS ribbon and no Prussian Red Cross Medal - probably a Reservist. I wonder how he did with those Slovakian forces on the Russian Front in WWII...

Hmmm. An underaged semi-trained Feldhilsarzt, methinks. I'll be back.

Alas no. 10 Feldhilfs?rzte, and 39 Assistenz?rzte (can't have been higher since the Schwarzburg medal is for ENLISTED ranks) but I could not find anybody with an SMK in or from a HESSIAN unit. So that one is going to require the  I've heard they are Out There SCHWARZBURG rolls.

I'm guessing a Warrant Officer level medical student from the Hessian cross combined with the Schwarzburg medal.

    So maybe in 2008.

    Peacetime--

    PrRAO4 19.9.12

    HSH3b 26.2.07 (I don't know which one-- I only have rolls from 1911 on)

There is no Saxon long service award on here, so I bet the cheapo removed it to put the Hindenburg Cross in. That Ernestine after it shouldn't have swords as the pre-war Knight 2nd. (I think he could have kept that "legally" since his wartime Commander was TWO grades up).

    Per Roth

Forgot to verify that I have indeed struck out with my own "Stracke" above-- not on the SMK roll. That is what is so :banger: about ribbon bars, when those two Waldeck ribbons could be four different grades. I am assuming that ONE of them HAS to be a WV4X since I can't imagine two while still an NCO and THEN an HHOX without anything officer class from the home state.

    Da woik nevuh ends! :speechless1:

Thank Rick - at least ID is a little closer than before - one of 50 as opposed to hundreds.

Thanks Glenn! Can't get any more complete than THAT!

In 1913 he was The "Platz" Engineer on the island of Helgoland.

Now to attract the attention of the owner who has let his message bin fill up! :banger::catjava:

    Rick,

In 1913 he was The "Platz" Engineer on the island of Helgoland.

He was transfered as the "Platz" Engineer on the island of Helgoland on 1 August 1911 with a simultaneous subordination to the 1. Ingenieur-Inspektion. His final prewar transfer to the staff of the Engineer Committee in Berlin was on 20 November 1913.

    Regards

    Glenn
