help with unit ID'ing

This is a brit DR helmet with a hand-painted unit emblem.

Does anybody know what does it mean, which unit this emblem related to, and what's the 43 finally?

Hello Takc,

Can't help you with the unit, sorry.

What I can tell you, you may already know though. BMB stamped to the liner is probably the maker.

Briggs Motor Body, if I remember correctly (although my memory can be slightly iffy at times), it is now known as Ford Dagenham or Ford Dagenham bought up Briggs.

I knew about BMB, that's right. At MCF I was told that the dark-blue and red are the colours of Royal Artillery, have any opinions on that?

43 is probably the unit number.

Yep, I've heard that about their colours too.

I don't know if this site will be of any help, I didn't find anything, but the unit markings seem to be square apart from one oval example http://www.ra39-45.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/mark/page2.html

I'd have thought Leigh might know or at least have a good idea.

It's about vehicle markings but on page 2, No. 43 is red over dark blue 2nd Field Artillery Regt. I wonder if that's what you have.
