WWI Medals to REY Harris,Dorsets & REY Harris, Hamps / RASC, & Lodge Medal.

The top two medal are named to REY Harris of the Dorset Regt, the lower pair are to REY Harris of the Hampshire Regt.

The Ceylon lodge medal is to Bro. RE Harris, hallmarked for 1922.

I've never got around to doing any further research than the MICs, so I still don't know what "(TEX)" mean, or what "EMT" in front of a RASC number mean etc - I must check Howard Williamson's book.

It looks like Ralph Edward Young served in 1st Dorset Regt, qualifying for the 1914 Star & Clasp, was discharged in 1916.

He then joined the Hampshire Regt & transferred to the RASC.

He's been issued his 1914 Star trio to the Dorsets & mistakenly issued a further BWM & Victory pair to the Hampshires (as Pte 29695).

By 1922 he's in Ceylon.

That's assuming that we're not talking about 2 different men with the same unusual name or at least initials.

Such a pity the 1914 Star's missing.

Dear Leigh,

These are the medals issued to my wife's grandfather Ralph Edward Young Harris. The Colombo Lodge medal was issued to him whilst in Ceylon, as Driver/ Bodyguard to Lord Elphingston. We have much family information on him, but, of course, not his medals.

Wow!  Twice.  Once for a nice 'double issue', as I suspect that the R.E.Y. twice is very probably the same man and once for the identification by Michael.  

The Colombo lodge medal must be a fairly rare item as well.
