    Gentlemen,

as the Soviet Union, communist Yugoslavia had a lot of lapel pins in all fields.

Please show your collection  .

For some unknown or rare ones, we might find out their specific meaning & function.

    Best regards

    Staff-lapel-pin of Tito's yacht "Galeb"

    Gentlemen,

Tito used a very large yacht, the "Galeb" (= seagull), for his journeys around the world. The ship is now on sale again: http://www.sybarites.org/2006/05/08/marsha...-auctioned-off/ and in a really bad condition :( .

I got this - rather large - lapel pin from Branko Karakas, renowed YU-composer, conductor, JNA-colonel & personel director of music of the late Marshal Tito:

He told me, that this was the lapel pin for the staff at Tito's yacht "Galeb".

    Best regards

    Christian

BTW: I asked Branko which military orders - as a colonel - he got from Tito. He told me, that he received all the 3rd classes of most of them :D .

3 unknown lapel pins from YU

    Gentlemen,

these are 3 - for me - unknown lapel pins from Yugoslavia:

Does anyone have an idea, what they might be  ?

The first has something to do with an youth-organisation, I assume.

Many thanks for your expertise in advance  .

AMS is the "Auto Moto Savez" Srbije - Autocar union of Serbia.

The 2nd one I can't really remember at the moment what SSOJ stands for, but I'm sure other people here will be able to answer you, it's nothing unusual....

I never saw the 3rd one.

    Sorry

    Filip

BTW: Do you have any access to the auction results from Belgrade http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=18883  ?

Second one means: "Savez socijalisticke omladine Jugoslavije" - "Union of socialist jouth of Yugoslavia"

Third one: PPT is for "Prva Petoletka Trstenik" - that is a fabric in town Trstenik, now in Serbia.

-No, it's not the youth-club... I actually don't know what they mean with "podmladak" in this case. :(

-Of course SSOJ is what Sasa said! Well done... And I never heard of the PPT.

-No, I don't know how the auction ended.

    Regards,

    Filip

Don't know... Maybe you're right, and I'm wrong, and it's the youth-club... I'm considering it again from the pictures at the bottom of the AMSS homepage.

I'm sure it will be an easy issue for those who live there... let's wait and see. :)

    Regards,

    Filip

    Dear Filip,

many thanks for the link to AMSS  .

Well, the ?AMTC http://www.oeamtc.at/ in Austria - the same organisation like AMSS in Serbia - has a youth club and special membership fees for young people, who are cyclist and so on.

    Memorial at the Airforce-HQ-Zemun

    Gentlemen,

that's the memorial at the outside wall of the Airforce-HQ-Zemun listing all the KIAs and victims of the airforce during the 1999-war.

My daughter Milica stands right to the memorial:

    Laurence,

first one is a pin of the Pionir organisation.

In Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia children were entering a Pionir organisation at the start of their elementary school.

I have several of these JNA-Lapel-Pins in my collection - also gilded with gold. Have there been different ranks according to the colour of the pin  ?

Is there a ranking among these JNA lapel pins  ?
