That and the skull above it are Freikorps insignia. See pages 110 and 111 of Charles Woolley's "German Uniforms, Insignia & Equipment 1918-1923."

This armored car unit was active in Berlin 1919.

The cuff title and skull badge were not limited to Kokampf in Berlin, they were also worn by personnel of the Leichte Kampfwagenz?ge auf the emerging Reichswehrbrigaden from mid-1919 to end of 1920. Also Gardekavallerie-Sch?tzen-Div and Marine-Div armoured car crews wore these, for example.

    Very nice portrait.

I once had one portrait like this one, even a little bit better cause mine was an officer with IC 1st class.

I traded that portrait against 3 very good SS-portraits and that was already about 10 years ago.

These are very very rare, wonder how much the auction will bring.

    Kind regards

Typical non-regulation Provisional Reichsheer uniform. He's got the official "string bean" 1919/20 shoulder cords, but not the updated cap insignia.

These are silver "beans" for officers. Enlisted ranks had gray ones--

What Freikorps badges are stuck on your private's collar Litzen?
