Paul R
Robert,That is one great set of photos you have there! I dont know anything about the Freikorps Epp unit. What was the significance of this unit and insignia?
Guest Rick Research
Robert-- That's Reichsleiter Franz Ritter von Epp, Reichsstatthalter of Bavaria. I've never seen old "Gottesmutter" SMILING before. You've got a photo of him in SA General uniform somewhere in your vast files:I also didn't realize that the veterans armbands were worn on the right lower cuff like that. The last close up fellow is an old and amazingly well decorated (before the war) former career NCO. He's got a St Michael Order Medal AND a peacetime Military Merit Cross on his bar, as well as something non-Bavarian too blurry to tell just before his final long service cross. Robert Noss
 Rick, You know my photos better than me.I missed the scar in Wagner's face, but thought that a Gauleiter on a Munich photo could only be Wagner.Epp is okay too Kind regardsRobert
Guest Rick Research
Usually I need to see awards, but I'd recognize Epp's ears anywhere. By the way-- is that the Feldherrnhalle in the back of the crowd photo?
Robert Noss
No, Rick, I believe that these photos were made somewhere around the K?nigsplatz. Some buildings are very close and there are larger areas of green.Kind regardsRobert
