Last piece from Borneo for the time being, 5th brithday and victory celebration programme for the 2/12th Field Ambulance.

This includes a brief history of the unit, the dinner menu, an invitation to join the unit association, a programme for the unit swimming carnival, an invite to the unit dinner dance and the unit nominal roll.

Gday Danny, I've checked the picture and (of course) I didn't look on the back....my grandmother had written the following....

"Sidney - I think. Canadian cousin. His mother is related to the Johnson's or Thomas's. He was killed on Armistice Day"

The Johnson's and Thomas's were my grandmother's mother's relatives.....hoo boy we're going back in time now!

Maybe this'll help find out where he was killed?

    cheers Jason

I did a search of Thomas' and Johnsons and could only come up with one Thomas who died on November 12th 1918. I doubt it is your relative but one never knows. Any more clues as to his name? I include the link for your perusal:

Cheers Danny, unfortunately thats all the info I have, unless I can somehow find out how to contact the Canadian branch of my family through my mother.....my grandmother died on October '04 (92 years young) but I do remember she was very vague about him as well.

Oh well....more research coming, perfect for those days when its quiet at work.....

    cheers Jason

In another article a Canadian veteran says that Private Price was killed by a sniper at 10.58am, two minutes before the Armistice and that he was the only Canadian soldier to be killed that day.

the grave of one of Abbie's mates from their home town of Beaudesert in Queensland.

    Hello,

Could be Gaza War Cemetery. If you have a look at the AWM web site they have a shot of the grave and it certainly looks like the same one in your photo.

Here's a bit more on George Coleman:

    Great items by the way.
