Hello - 1314 - welcome to GMIC. However, it would be nice if you could give us a first name ? I did suggest Nigeria when Leigh first posted - but it didn't seem to get looked-at. Are you police ; ex-police; colonial police, or, a collector ? Always good to know background on members - oparticularly on such a specialist subject. Mervyn

Leigh - I only mentioned it in passing as it seemed a possibility - I thought Peter might have picked-up on it as he was in Nigeria. The difficulty , always, is getting the proper info. and not just an indistinct picture. Merv.

There is so little information on British Colonial Police uniforms, so it is hard to research such pieces when they emerge. I would suggest starting a new topic for Colonial Police Photographs to capture some data.

(a) As regards the Nigeria Police Button pre 1953,there is a similar item currently on eBay 200412061682,albeit of QE2 issue together with a post Independance issue.

(b) I fully support the suggestion re the Colonial Police ( to include the odd balls ie Shanghai,Wei Hai Wei and Treaty Ports which,whilst not Colonial in it's strict sense,followed the British model. )
