leigh kitchen
Picked it up today, a private purchase? RE title, "standard" little Union Flag & UN badges, is that other badge in RE colours bear a representation of a post horn? The UN badge is attached by velcro, the others are sewn on. I'm assuming that this brassard is for Royal Engineers Postal Services, although did'nt the postal function become part of the RLC's responsibilty? leigh kitchen
This brassard has been identified on The British Military Badge Forum as being that of 38 Engineer Regiment, nothing to do with postal & courier functions. 38 Engineer Regiment used to be based at Ripon, the yellow horn represents the "Wakeman" of the city of Ripon (whose task was to maintain law & order & enforce curfew), a stringed version of it appears on the city arms.
