    Unusual Masonic Emblem

I posted this last week under 'Members Identification Forum' and was surprised to find it is probably Masonic. Dan (Hauptman) has done some research and there seems to be a US connection - at present. I am reposting the badge here in the hopes that you can tell us a little more about it's history. Look at the other link - Dan posted the link he found.

The Crown moves independently and is not broken. There is a pin to fix it to clothing.

It is either 30th, 31st or 32nd degree of the Rose Croix (they are very similar badges and only differ in the amount of gilding). I believe I am correct in saying that the Rose Croix is also called the Ancient and Accepted Rite or the Scottish Rite but I may be confusing them. The insignia, however, is definitely masonic and one of these degrees.
