You are right about the earliest medals being made of bronze and the latest ones being made of zink. EK2 with the Saxe-Meiningen military merit cross and a Turkish war medal thrown in for good measure. Was there a way to differentiate between the officer and the enlisted versions when on a ribbon bar? Solomon Posted November 25, 2006 Share Posted November 25, 2006 Yes, but he died, when I was six.I have over 120 (very rare) photos from him, when he was a sailor on the "SMS Danzig" and about 20 -30 photoswhen he was in the army in WW II (Infantery -tank hunter).With these "Marine-Feldpost"-letters and photos I was able to identify the FA-cross Oldenburg, he awarded in WW I.But I?m still searching for the documents of his awards...There is no hint on his career on u-boat, exept a few photos which show his Imperial u-boat-award.(I have his original award in my collection)GreetingsSolomon Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
