SEHO with french swords = Altenburg origin?

    Recommended Posts

In the auction 192 of Kunker there was an Ernestinischer Hausorden, Ritterkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern. In the explanatory text it is suggested that the french swords style of the SEHO indicate origin of Sachsen-Altenburg's duchy...Can someone confirm this?

I thought that the style of the swords (roman or french) was depending on the manufacturer who had made the decoration.

The book " Ehrenzeichen des herzogtums Sachsen-Altemburg " shows pics with SEHO with both styles of swords: french and roman

I cannot confirm, but Autengruber - Künker's expert for ODM - is one of the greatest connoisseurs of awards, so probably has his reasons and sources...

All I can contribute at the moment - in my father's collection, there is a medal bar group with EH3bX with roman swords - awarded by Sachsen-Coburg and Gotha. Fits the theory...

Well, if maker X delievered to Coburg and Gotha and maker Y delievered to Altenburg... ;o)
