    Hello,

this is my first posting at this forum. Sorry about my english, but I will try my best.

On ancestry database are a lot of informations about Hans Böhning. He had 18 victories and a lot of decorations. Eisernes Kreuz first class and second class. Ritterkreuz des Hausordens von Hohenzollern, bavarian Militärverdienstorden 4. class with swords and the 4th class with crown & swords. Woundbadge silver, Flugzeugführerabzeichen (pilotbadge).Usually got the pilot for the first victory the Fliegerpokal , but on the ancestry file for Böhning is no proof for it.

    Regards Andreas

He was born in Grottau in Bohemia (now Hrádek nad Nisou, Czech Republic), but was a student in Bremen when the war started, where his father was a factory director, and he also received the Bremen Hanseatenkreuz. Grottau was on the Saxon border, near where Saxony, Bohemia and Silesia meet, so I have no idea how he ended up in the Bavarian Army. He was a Kriegsfreiwilliger in the Bavarian 10.FAR on 14 August 1914 and served in that regiment until transferring to aviation.

Wikipedia and theaerodrome.com have incorrect information.

    Hello,

Böhning was a student for philosophy in Erlangen (Bavaria). As an volunteer he join the bavarian army.

He made a brilliant career. First volunteer in the artillery to a Flight Lieutenant.

Look at the pictures and see his victories.

By the way, he got the Bremer Hanseatenkreuz, because his homecountry was Bremen.

    Regards Andreas
