Yes, wonderful pictures. Thanks Nick (and others).

Question: Someone sent me pics of a Grand Cordon Rising Sun Paulownia Flowers in this type of box (ambassador to Japan, was claimed--no documents to support this). The owner asked me a value. I said $7000? $8000? USD. Was that off-base? Anyone ever seen the price this medal was sold at?

    Supposed 1940s vintage

    Yep.

    This set is authentic one.

And the box looks good too (although it will be nice to see the reverse side of the cover with inscription).

The obverse of the badge and reverse of the breast star would be nice too (for dating of this set).

The price for such set in such condition?

    Hmmm ...

Let me put it this way - personally I am ready to pay $5000 for this set ;)

    Thanks for your opinions, Nick.

Yes, the owner said that was when the award was given: 'It belonged to the Ambassador of Japan in Mexico in the mid 1940's.'

No documents to confirm, but no reason to think this is incorrect, either.

    Well Rich,

I am afraid this is impossible, since Mexico declared war on Japan on June 1, 1942 and discontinued its diplomatic relations with Japan even earlier - in December 1941.

    Cheers,

    Nick
