    Gents,

Subject Full Cavalier set is no longer listed on the dealer's site. Whether it sold or was returned to its consignor is unknown.

Stand-alone OG1 from post 362 (unissued s/n 2174) now has brothers and is offered as a full glory set on a popular auction site.

On the US site but the medal is in Greece and he ships worldwide. Opening bid now $11,999 for the "full set.".

Looking up the OG2 and OG3 that now accompany the OG1 S/.N 2174, it appears that they are not listed in the Book Cavaliers of the order of glory. They were not awarded to any actual recipient of OG1.

It's not opening bid but rather buy it now ($11,999) or best offer.

    Gents,

As GHB notes, this is clearly a "thrown together" Full Cavalier "set." While OGI s/n 2174 is legit, it was never officially awarded and therefore has no associated OGII or OGIII.

The "advertised" OGII is a doctored OGIII. The "advertised" OGIII appears legit.

In offering OGI s/n 2174 as part of a "Full Cavalier set", the seller is simply trying to move the OGI at his original asking price for the OGI as a stand-alone piece. Steer clear.

    Gents,

This Full Cavalier set to double OGII winner Aleksey Stepanovich Petrukovich sold at the June 10th, 2010 Morton & Eden Ltd. auction in London. Included were Petrukovich's additional Soviet military and civil decorations and associated unspecified order booklets.

Sale price was 28,000 British pounds plus a 20% buyer's premium.

    Gents,

This Category 1 Full Cavalier set to Ivan Tikhonovich Rubezhniy sold at auction in the U.S. on July 17th, 2014. Sale price was $7,000.00.

What is especially cool about this set is the fact the OGIII and OGI serial numbers match - legitimately so. Go figure the odds on that!

    Gentlemen,

I guess, we are facing a rather weird - geographical - price situation for full cavalier sets today:

In the USA a category 1 set was sold for mere USD 7.000,- (!!!).

In the UK a category 4 set was sold for USD 18.500,- and a set without documents, but with quite a few extra medals, was sold for more than USD 54.000,- (!!!).

What's wrong at the market for high end Soviet awards ???

Well, due to obvious reasons, the Russian collectors vanished. But - at least in Europe, on the continent - the Chinese buyers are getting stronger and stronger. It seems, that London & Germany is closer to the Chinese collectors, than the USA?

Many thanks for your expertise :-)

    Kind regards

    Christian

    Gents,

    Today's market has changed considerably.

At the moment, there are no Full Cavalier-related items available via the major Soviet dealers in the United States. As a case in point, for the first time in many years, the annual New York Sale has no Full Cavalier items up for auction.

    Gents,

He's dropped the price for this "set" some $2,500.00 to $8,999.00 as a Buy It Now auction. He has been listing the single OGI and now the same OGI as part of this concocted set for just about 18 months. As explained earlier in this thread (see posts #362, 366 and 369 above) it comes as no surprise.
