Einwohnerwehr Danzig

Recommended Posts

Very Rare and valuable.

But, it isn't Freikorps. Einwohnerwehr Danzig was actually the militia of Freistadt Danzig in the 1930s and an arm of the SA before being taken over by the SS. The badge was instituted in 1939 by the Allgemeine-SS unit known as SS-Heimwehr Danzig. The badge is known as the Danziger Schild fur Treue Dienste der Stadt Danzig. It was supposedly only awarded officially 15 times. Although several more than that exist.

Thank´s bolewts58,

so it is possible that the shield is from his son. He served in 1939

with Flakabteilung z.b.V. an got the Danzig Kreuz 2. Klasse.

Hi Andreas,

Good and scarce badge, congrats. I had one of these once, grotesquely modified.

And it definitely was awarded much more than 15 times, I've seen at least 10 of them. Around 300-500, I would suppose.

Can you show us Danzig Flak badge too?

Best!

Serg

Andreas,

I've seen already enough to make my life uneasy :D But, should it happen that you have documents to these badges as well? Or any pictures?

Best!

Serg

Hello Serg,

why do you feel uneasy, do you have some doubts about my Flak Badge ?

I have only the small bust portrait photo from his Soldbuch, his Soldbuch and award documents

for the Iron Cross 2.nd class and the Flakkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe.

Regards

Andreas
