Obergefreiter
My newest acquisition for my Vietnam participants display. A ROK Vietnam Service medal. Been looking for one for ages.
drclaw
Thanks for posting this. I didn't know that ROK troops participated in Vietnam. Were there many?
Obergefreiter
Quite a few actually. At their peek they had about fifty thousand boots on the ground. About three hundred thousand all total; about five thousand died. As for numbers, they were the 2nd. largest, after the US, in-country. They showed up in late '65 with an infantry division and a marine brigade. Edited June 4, 2014 by Obergefreiter
JBFloyd
They had a fearsome combat reputation.
Obergefreiter
Indeed they did. Unfortunately they seem to have learned most of what they knew about interrogating suspects and prisoners from the Japanese. They were mean a$$kickers in combat though.
