german officer on ottoman service with unknown ribbon bar

    Recommended Posts

I need some support to identify the ribbons on this ribbon bar.

The guy on this picture looks to be a german officer who surved for the ottoman air service.

He wear the german observer badge, ottoman aviation badge, iron cross and the wound badge. On the right chest the ottoman war medal.

So far so good but what does he wear on the bar?

can someone identify the clasp on the ribbon for the war medal?

    Regards

    Alex

No.3 might be the light-blue Wurttemburg Friedrich Order?

It looks at though he is wearing two clasps....??

Nice photo though - I saw it as well ;)

Wasn't there another one of him?

    Thanks Mattyboy.

It might be the blue ribbon of the Württemberg Friedrichs Orden. But where is the sword device???

On the second ribbon it looks like an clasp, too. Maybe for the Oldenburg Friedrich-August-Kreuz.

    Do you ment this?

    I got both pictures.

    Regards

#1 & 2 are the EK and the Oldenburg Friedrich August Cross with Spange "VOR DEM FEINDE". The last three are probably all Turkish, with the clasp covering all three. It's also upside down.

#3 is not likely the Friedrich-Orden. He does not look old enough to be a pre-war officer with the LD2. Maybe he was an enlisted observer with officer's rank in Turkish service, and got commissioned late in the war, and that is the 9-year DA.

    Thanks Dave.

I agree with you on the first two ribbons, also on the last two.

Number 4 could also be a German ribbon, like the Heasen AEZ.

On this picture he is an Olt, therefor he was an Lt prior his service on turkey. He wear the German observer badge. He had to be an officer when he started training as observer.

    1. Iron cross 2nd class

    2. Oldenburg: Friedrich-August-Kreuz 2nd class with class

    3. DA 9 (?)

    4. ?

    5. Turkey: war medal with clasp

    6. Turkey: liakat medal

    Regards

    Alex

The clasp is indeed upside down and looks to be the one for 'Irak'.
