Ah so it was you who beat me to it Stefan!

Nice bar, I've got it's big brother.

As you can see the only difference is that this guy has added his 25 year service medal onto the end of his bar!

This bar belonged to Peter Puff, a Vizefeldwebel in the Schutztruppe in German South West Africa.

He must have been held prisoner for the duration as his MVK certificate is dated the 19th of January 1920.

All the best Pete.

Great match up.  What are the odds they belong to the same owner?  Is this a common combination?

Both bars , the ribbon bar and the medal bar , are no unique combinations.... only with a Name from Awards docs or something like that you can be 100% safe who you have there.....on the ribbon bar where you have no more "help" it can be everything , a MVK 3. class for exemple...what DA the blue ribbon is for - can be 9y , 12y, 15y or maybe Landwehr...who knows

BUT :catjava:

what makes me feel that you have really two bars of ONE guy is the Point that on his original medal bar (bevor the Addition of the 25y ca. 1938) he has the DSWA-medal mounted on last Position on exact  the same place as on the ribbon bar although it was a combattant Award that normally should place on Position 2 or 3 !!! The 25cross is added to the existing bar so both the medal and the ribbon bar with the matching Awards were made after getting the Hindy ca. 1935 with the same order of Awards.

Just a guess....but I would give you two a

Thanks Heiko,

That all seems very plausible. If you look on the mounting style and the bavarian ribbon folding. It is realy matching.

Ok for 100% you will never know - but for me i. Looks like a 95%
