I need help with the attached photo. What unit is the Hauptmann member of? 134th or 194th infantry regiment? What are the colors of the regiment?

Thanks in advance,

Hello!
Do you have further informations on the reverse?

He wears an IOD, so he might be an infantrist, Jäger, Schütze ...

There was NO infantry unit with a 194!!!!

He wears a dark paletot, This one was worn until ~ 1900, then the colour changed into grey.

Because of he had two cocardes, the photo could be taken between 1897 and 1900.

But then the number 4 might be another number. The problem is, the only infantry regiments with a "19?" were:

190 (prussian, set-up may 1915)

192: (saxon, set-up july 1915)

193 (prussian, set-up july 1915)

I´ve got another idea...

IF it  is a wartime photo, the pipings of the shoulder boards and the collar could be green and he served with the MG-Scharfschützen-Trupp 194 (those MG-Ss-Trupps 1-200 were set-up in april 1916). This unit was a saxon one. It existed from april 1916 until october 1916, then it became 3./MG-Ss.Abt.91, later 3./MG-SsAbt.51

A very short period of time...

What do you think about the cocarde? Prussian?

I think its more like from around 1900, but unfortunately its not dated. It's a post card, addressed to a hungarian girl in budapest, but there is no writing on it, except the addressing, which is in hungarian.

That's strange.  I don't know, if there was a unit with a 194 in the pre-war era.  I'll have a closer look this afternoon

Hi Andreas!

I only know IODs with two Trageringen. But here I miss the Chiffre on the handle.

Hi Andy,

here a photo with one Tragering. I think the change from two to one was 1905 or 1907, I´m

not sure and I´m not a sword expert.

Nice photo, Andreas!

That´s interesting. I´ve never seen a "one-ringed" IOD. (but I´ve never looked for the rings...)
