Leutwein
Hi all, today I received this nice and interesting photo. It shows a bavarian officer (captain) with the following awards:-Jubiläumsmedaille -SA3b-China-medal in bronze for fighters (in my opinion it looks like a bronze one)-bavarian long service cross for 24 years Unfortunately I´m not able to identify the insignia on his shoulderboard but the photo was taken in Munich.... ....so I assume that he was a member in one of the following regiments:Infanterie-Leib-Regiment1. Infanterie-Regiment „König“2. Infanterie-Regiment „Kronprinz“Right? I checked all bavarians participants of China 1900/1901 but no sucess..... ....my hottest candidat is:OberleutnantFärber Bayr. 11. I.-R. 7 Unfortunately the SA3b is missing....but I have no idea if Oblt. Färber received the saxon award some years later. For those candidates I couldn´t also find any infos:Leutnant Frhr. v. Stengl Bayr. 22. I.-R. 5 HauptmannKraft Bayr. 23. I.-R. 6 HauptmannGraf v. Berri della Bosia gen. v. Külberg auf Gansheim u. Berg Bayr. I.-L.-R. 7 LeutnantRaila Bayr. 2. I.-R. 5LeutnantNeumaier Bayr. 10. I.-R. 7LeutnantLeeb Bayr. 4. F.-R. So one of them could also be possible.....If nobody of them would match, it could also be possible that the china medal is a steel-version. I would be very thankful if someone could identify him. I have only the bavarian 1911-Rangliste and had no sucess. Maybe he was retired at 1911. Thanks a lot and have a nice day Karsten
Glenn J
Karsten, perfect match for Hauptmann Hans v. Schlichtegroll of 1. Infanterie-Regiment König in 1909.You will find him as a Major in your 1911 list. The China medal is the award in steel.RegardsGlenn
Leutwein
Wow thanks a lot Glenn Hans von Schlichtegroll received his MVO4 on 11th March 1911 but when did he receive his RAO4?I was thinking that the china-medal is a bronze one because it´s looking so dark like the Jubiläumsmedaille.....so I was researching in the wrong way Thanks a lot for identify him.Best regardsKarsten
Glenn J
Karsten, awarded the RAO4 on 17 September 1909. Permission granted to accept and wear the award per order of 8 October 1909 and published in the Bavarian War Ministry Verordnungsblatt Nr. 34 of 25 October 1909.RegardsGlenn
Leutwein
Thanks a lot again Glenn, so the photo must be taken between 1905 and March 1909.NiceBest regardsKarsten Edited July 23, 2015 by Leutwein
Chip
I just saw this thread and although it's unnecessary now, I was going to tell you that the cypher is that of the 1.b.I.R. König. I don't know much about medal research, but I can usually identify cyphers.Chip
