stewy Posted July 23, 2016 Share Posted July 23, 2016 Thought I'd post this zweitschrift soldbuch to Obergefreiter Hans Schenk. He was awarded the KVK2 w/s, Ost medal & KBA in bronze. Schwere Art. Abt. 859 was equipped with 21cm Morsers. In Feb '44 Schenk was suspected of feigning illness. He was taken POW by the Western Allies or at least spent time in an American POW camp. As "hucks216" kindly pointed out he must've done a runner so that he was not taken POW by the Russians, as many did.
