Opinions wanted on Air Crew Europe Star

Hi guys,

 

This is my first post here on GMIC. My main interest is building model military vehicles, mostly British, and as a side interest I have taken up collecting British campaign stars. I'd like to have a complete collection of these, and today I received an Air Crew Europe star in the mail. Now I know there are many fakes out there, but I think I have done my homework and bought a real one. But I thought I'd post it here just to make sure. What do you guys think?

One way of telling is that the bottom of the "V" points to the 1st arm of the "W", attached is mine, fakes or copies the "V" often points more to the right (Centre of the "W)

Also one thing I remember is that the real Star has 4,5 jewels in the Crowns arm.

Here is on the right is Alex's star. On the lest is the star from OP.

Egorka: the half pearl is there, but it's hard to see because of some slight damage in the area; see the close-up picture.

Odulf: thanks, I had seen that article, and I had used it to check my star before ordering. A very helpful article.

I've an opportunity to buy this one and have read up on fakes. This looks good to me based on what I've read and seller has had it confirmed by two London dealers as genuine.

Thanks for that Alex. As a youngster I wanted to collect all of the WW2 stars. In the 80s I bought an ACE star for small money which was of course a copy. A good opportunity  to finally complete my collection.
