coldstream
Hello Caz, PUO refers to Pyrexia of unknown origin, (usually meaning Trench fever) Regards Simon The website Long, long trail has a useful list of abbreviations which can be found here http://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/soldiers/a-soldiers-life-1914-1918/common-british-army-acronyms-and-abbreviations-of-the-first-world-war/ Simon

peter monahan
Beat me to it! A very common diagnoses at Field Ambulance posts and Casualty Clearing Stations. 'He has a fever.' Lots of liquids and a couple days bed rest and off you go back to your unit. No antibiotics and if there had been they'd have been reserved for the seriously wounded/infected.
