What can I find about this photo? All I surely know is that the two gentlemen are from south-east Transylvania.

    hi Morar

Great photo and what a cool frame it is in

I saw your other post about your journey which led to this and some other nice finds...

Did the lady tell you which one of these was her relative? and maybe his name?

I also notice each of the three has decoration on their trousers.

the sort of thing I would have expected on a hussar tunic ….

once again great photo , nice find...

    Dear Tony,

the decoration on the trousers were worn by hungarian Honved infantry too. And as far as I remember by all hungarian troops, infantry of the regular common k.u.k. army included.

Christian , The hungarian knot over the trousers ,certainly was common to all Hungarian Infantry Regiments , but the Honved ones weared madder red braid and the Common Army ones ,yellow and black braid. The Common Army retained the yellow and black with the pike grey uniform. the Honved adopted slate grey braid.

Farkas , The men wearing tellermutzen, are Austrian Republican Gendarms , the men with the mortar ,Hungarian Honved soldiers of about 1930

    Hi gents

this first one was sent as German feldpost.

The stamp is ‘Orstkommandantur Halles’ : District command in Halles

    6th March 1917

the front title says it shows a munitions column but also more interestingly notice the ‘lancers’ amongst them.....

    Hi Bayern

I am surprised at the description of the card as a munition column - far more interesting than that. when I saw it first hand I was glad I got it.

I don’t have another photo where the hussars are equipped with them.

Would you agree Hungarian? I say that because no cap peak. Or is that not the case with this headwear ?

Hello ,interesting enough , the lancers are in fact Hussars and in some number , thats was more current in the eastern front were cavalry was deployed at regimental level .

    cheers tony

ps /. You’re on early tonight... nice one!

They are German, alright.  They wore felt cap, here, as in your postcard with camouflage cover.

See an example from my collection dated 1913 :
