In the first post I will post some of my favourite photos. The first photo is in my possession and it's a photo of my grandpa's uncle. All of the next photos are from the internet. First one was taken in Trebinje on October 1944 (original inscription: Требиње - октобар 1944 г.). I believe the general standing in the middle is people's hero Vlado Šegrt. He's wearing Partisan Star 1st class. By the way notice his hat badge, generals' had white enamel around the edges. You can see the same badge being worn by Petar Drapšin in the photo you posted. BalkanCollector Posted September 7, 2017 Author Share Posted September 7, 2017 (edited) Nice photos! I've found a photo of Vlado Šegrt on the internet and was going to post it eventually. It looks like him! I took a quick look concerning the general's hat badge in the "Partizanska vojska i Jugoslavenska Armija 1941-1953" book. It's actually not white enamel but looks like this. It's a general's hat badge which was introduced in the second half of 1944 which goes by the date of your photo. Badge is in possession of a fellow collector Nenad Bjeloš, one of many who had contributed in making of this book. I belive they are currently working on the second book concerning badges, uniforms, insignia etc. from 1953 to 1992. The first book concentrates on the same matter but in the 41-53 period. Also, I think that Drapšin and Šegrt are wearing the badges without enamel because I see a small bright spot which seems like a Yugoslav tricolor. I think I've found an answer. It could be two wound badges for minor wounds (I think that's the right translation). I actually got this answer from mister Bjeloš himself on facebook. Wound badge didn't even cross my mind, though when I look at the photo it seems like a single ribbon with two darker stripes, at lest to me. I'm really not sure. Here's an illustration from Lukasz Gaszewski's website: Looks pretty similar to me and it fits the time frame. If Bulgarian "Medal for Bravery" is the one we can see in the pictures then there's some kind of mix up. Bulgarian medal from the images is actually Medal for the Patriotic War 1944-45. paja Posted September 16, 2017 Share Posted September 16, 2017 Thanks, I wasn't really sure. Some of the shoulder board signs were exactly the same as the royal ones.
